TRUE MICROSCOPE TECHNOLOGY MEETS CINEMATOGRAPHY

"From Near to Infinity" (in terms of focusing capabilities) truly defines what they do.

From now on, you have not only all the information about their lenses, but also Infinity becomes a Seller in CineLenses. In addition, you have all the information not only where to buy, but also where to rent Infinity Lenses anywhere in the world.

A wide catalog of their products is also available in the marketplace to buy directly from the brand, without intermediaries. Among them, we highlight the complete system TS-160 Robusto Lite.

TS-160 ROBUSTO LITE:

The TS-160 emerged as a refinement and expansion of Infinity's already thriving InfiniProbe Standard C-mount series of video/inspection microscopes. Moving beyond the formats and magnifications provided by the Standard line, the TS-160 was conceived as the ultimate representation of their capabilities. And, serving as a Continuously-focusable Microscope (with macro capabilities as well), the TS-160 embodied this notion completely.

However, it proved to be more than just that. Its distinctive attributes were soon recognized as meeting the long-desired needs of professional cinematography.

One might assume that the TS-160's cinematic features were deliberate considerations in its initial design. This assumption, however, would be incorrect. In many respects, the TS-160's adaptation for cinematography came as a surprise even to its inventor, H Jay Margolis.

The potential of the TS-160 for cinematic applications can be traced back to when Hollywood filmmakers approached Infinity with the original intention of using it to film ants for an upcoming movie. Subsequently, the TS-160 found use in special effects by others, initially as a convenient cine-microscope. Yet, esteemed cinematographers took an unexpected turn: they utilized the TS-160 to capture images of distant subjects. The inherent ability of the TS-160 to achieve infinity focus was initially regarded as merely a technical detail. However, it was soon realized that this feature held profound implications. The imagery produced by the TS-160 when focused to infinity was nothing short of remarkable. While the TS-160 was always recognized for its uniqueness, it surpassed expectations by demonstrating its capabilities beyond traditional microscopy. When focused to infinity, it maintained an exceptional depth of field from near to far distances, a quality sought after by filmmakers for generations. The TS-160 accomplished this effortlessly.

Furthermore, a single objective, originally designed for magnifications ranging from 0-16x, delivered consistently high-quality imagery across all focal points. Once focused to infinity, minimal additional adjustments were necessary. The TS-160 emerged as a versatile imaging tool.

Within this system, we must mention the different options of existing lenses, SFX-1, SFX-2 and SFX-3:

SFX-1:

100mm lens when focused to infinity can hold sharp focus from INFINITY to 50cm (c.20in). Works well in creating forced perspective shots with a telephoto field of view.

James Mathers using the SFX-1 lens on the TS-160 to shoot a close-up video of a Ducati motorcycle – makes you think it’s the real deal.

SFX-2:

50mm lens when focused to infinity can hold sharp focus from INFINITY to 15cm (c.6in).

SFX-3:

35mm lens when focused to infinity can hold sharp focus from INFINITY to 5cm (c.2in). Widest of the three SFX lenses offering broad views and vast forced perspectives.

MICRO HM (High Magnification):

Focus to Infinity when shooting tabletop and the Micro HM will maintain sharp focus from INFINITY to c.20in, allowing the camera to move without follow-focusing. This lens, when focused in tight on an object, can magnify to 16x (times) creating a view never-before-seen with other macros.

MACRO PRO

Use as a 4x Macro lens at 32mm (1.25in) to create unique close-up photography.

  • Used by Nature Photographers worldwide for 4x (times) magnification
  • Use as 135mm Telephoto lens and focus on a face to produce an outstanding portrait.

In addition, several addons are available to complete the system:

45º PRISM

45° angle allows for incredible video captures. Allows a more relaxed set-up for the camera and lens when used with the FlipR

90º PRISM

90° right angle lens to create specialized views. Use by itself or with the FlipR to create a right angle periscope lens.

FLIPR INVERTER:

Use a FlipR to invert the upside-down image created by the SFX-1, 2, 3 + Micro HM.

  • The FlipR employs a double aspheric lens design to invert images
  • Images are recorded in-camera exactly as you see them
  • Doubles as an extension tube without any noticeable loss of light
