World’s widest-production anamorphic lens 4/10/2024, 12:00:00 AM

Atlas Lens Co. has just revealed its latest additions to the lineup: the 18mm T2, 135mm T2.2, and 200mm T2.2 Orion 2x anamorphic lenses.

Among these, the 18mm Orion Series stands out as the widest anamorphic lens currently in production worldwide. This lens establishes a fresh benchmark for ultra-wide angle perspectives and boasts an extremely close focus of 18 inches (45.72cm). With a horizontal field-of-view of 140 degrees, it surpasses all others in its category, making it the broadest in terms of horizontal coverage among Cinemascope format 35mm motion picture camera lenses. It covers 4-Perf Film for a 2.40:1 Cinemascope Aspect Ratio Deliverable. Additionally, it covers full-frame formats edge-to-edge with Atlas 1.6x LF Extender & Atlas 1.4x LF Extender when in 16:9 from Alexa LF Format mode (full Height).

The 135mm Orion allows for capturing close-up shots from a distance, while the 200mm becomes the longest focal length in the Orion series. These lenses extend well beyond the Anamorphic 4 Perf Film Format into 2.40:1 delivery in Full Frame on both film and digital camera systems. They complement the existing 21mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 65mm, 80mm, and 10mm lenses in the series.

The Atlas Lens Co. Orion Series utilizes a genuine front-anamorphic group, offering vintage optical characteristics and covering slightly larger than S35 image circles. Availability is limited, with immediate delivery for current quantities, while orders placed afterward will ship within 2 to 3 months.
